Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or useyour shoulder or crook of the elbow. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it and don't forget to wash your hands.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
Avoid close contact with others and their secretions. This means the usual handshakes, hugs and kisses. Sharing drinking glasses, food and utensils should be avoided.
